Update for week of October 16, 2012

An update on my health situation:
My oncologist has met with the tumor board and they have decided to wait for an upcoming PET scan before beginning treatment. The PET scan is this Friday Oct 19th. Sugars are fed into my blood stream to determine which area absorbs it the fastest. This helps to find the primary.


The Brain MRI was not completed this past Saturday as my braces cause too many artifacts and prevented a clear imaging. Therefore we still don't know if the cancer has spread to the brain.

The oncologist mentioned that two stains from pathology came up positive. One is for CEA something found in people of certain cancers usually colorectal cancer.
However, my colonoscopy last Wednesday went well. And the GI doctor says my colon is clean and no polyps or anything were found.

Despite this result, he is planning to treat me as thought I had these particular cancers. ( includes lung cancer, colorectal,..among others) He has already scheduled me to begin chemotherapy on Oct 26th.

Specific items for prayer:
1) Pray for the PET scan on Friday to be completed and for the source (primary) to be found.
2) Continue to pray that the cancer has not spread to brain

3) The lump by the left side of my neck continues to grow and and tugs at my skin. This is not helping the healing of the incision from the lymph node surgery.

Please pray that the growth of this mass would NOT hinder my breathing or block my airways. Please pray that the incision would heal quickly.
4) Pray for a timely second opinion appointment and an accurate chemo treatment to be administered.

Update from Pearl Lee: Week of October 9, 2012

Concerning my health situation, here is an update for this week:

The oncologists had ordered some lab work to be done and various tests last Friday.
He originally hoped that it would be germ-cell cancer which he says is the only curable carcinoma (like Lance Armstrong). However, after some blood work he said that I don't have germ-cell cancer. Initially he had prepped me to be hospitalized as soon as Tuesday (today) to start chemo for germ-cell.

Now, this is not the case, I think his treatment plan will change to a more general chemotherapy treatment.
He meets with the tumor board this Friday. So we should know after that time.

Additionally, he has ordered a colonoscopy to be done on Wednesday.
To see if it is colon cancer as my father died of this many years ago.

I have a Brain MRI scheduled for Saturday to see if the cancer has spread to the brain. We hope this is not the case. Here are some specific points for prayer,

Please pray for:
1) The oncologists to find the primary ( the source where the cancer began), the tumor board reviewing my case, and the treatment plan that they decide on.
2) That there will not be any delay for any necessary treatment
3) pray for the colonoscopy: I need to fast for two days but I get very weak when I don't eat anything. Pray for the procedure and the doctors/nurses to find any growths.
4) Pray that the cancer has not spread to the brain
5) We are considering getting a second opinion but don't want to delay any treatments for that sake. We want the peace in whatever we do.

" If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you"
